REVIEW: Beer Tasting at The Wave

The Wave…of American Flavors located in the Contemporary Resort is holding complementary beer tastings for resort guests. You need to be staying at Bay Lake Tower or the Contemporary to attend. The tasting starts at 3 pm and you can find further information in your recreation insert with your check-in packet. You will be treated to three different organic beers from Orlando Brewing Company. They are the only brewery in Florida to make certified organic beer.  All the ingredients used to make the ales are all natural and they don’t use any fillers. They are all unpasteurized. Our awesome Bartender Kim was very knowledgeable and we were able to learn some new information about beer which was so interesting.  On a side note, the bartenders here at the Wave are also responsible for most of the creations you find in all the Disney Lounges on property. Disney has a “team” of individuals who get together to create new and exciting drinks. This tasting is just an example of them sharing their expertise. We were lucky to attend during one of our resort stays. Here are the beers we tried. Blonde Ale A summery ale with citrus notes with a light flavor. To be paired with BBQ, hamburgers or fish. Pale Ale An amber ale, with a caramel flavor with full malt taste. To be paired with meat, like a steak. Brown Ale A dark ale, a bit bitter with notes of coffee and bakers chocolate. To be paired with dessert. The Blonde ale ended up being the favorite of the ales. I loved the fruity flavor and how crisp it tasted. I liked the fact that it didn’t have a perfumy aftertaste. You can definitely taste the difference of the organic beers versus non organic. This was an entertaining activity to break up the day. The Wave is a fun atmosphere with an excellent, attentive staff. If you are staying at the Contemporary I think you should stop in and try out some great ales. You won’t be disappointed.
