A Muppet-ational REVIEW of The Muppets

It’s time to get things started! On the most sensational Inspirational Celebrational Muppet-ational

This is what we call The Muppet Show!

I was lucky to view an advance media screening of “The Muppets” this weekend. Let’s just say I LOVED it. The Muppets have been a favorite of mine since childhood. All those fond memories between the movies, shows and music I have been addicted. Watching them every week and singing along to the songs I thought I was part of their show. The Muppets play a key role in pop culture even though it’s been twelve years since their last movie. I was thrilled when I heard last year that Jason Segel was going to bring back The Muppets to the big screen. Before the movie started we got to view “Small Fry” a Pixar short staring our friends from Toy Story. It is about a fast food restaurant and what happens with the happy meal toys that come with the children’s meal. I don’t want to give too much away but it was very funny!  On to the movie… “The Muppets” is about Walter who is a huge Muppet fan, his brother Gary played by Jason Segel and Gary’s girlfriend Mary played by Amy Adams who go on vacation to Los Angeles to view The Muppets Studios only to find out a devious man named Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) an oil tycoon is out to knock down the Muppet Theater to drill for oil. They decide they need to help Kermit reunite the Muppets to put on a show together to raise $10 million dollars to save the theater. They need to travel near and far to find all the Muppets that have gone their separate ways. Onto the musical montage!  I love all the different back stories as to what each Muppet has been up to since they all split up. So many jokes and funny celebrity cameos going on here. My favorite is still when they say “let’s travel by map”. Don’t you wish we all could do that?? This movie has so many great songs and dance numbers that go along with the classic Muppet style. It features new songs and old school Muppet favorites like “Rainbow Connection”, “The Muppet Show” and “Mahna Mahna”. The opening and closing song “Life’s A Happy Song” is so catchy and my new favorite! There is something for everyone young and old with “The Muppets”. It is a sincere story based on friendship and sticking together. The first half is modeled from the original Muppet Movie and the end reacquaints us to the unforgettable Muppet Show.  Hopefully people will fall in love again with the Muppets and have a comical time doing so! Warning: you may also tear up I bit. I know I did. The film opens in theaters November 23, 2011
